In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly has designated 15 September as The International Day of Democracy - with the purpose of promoting and upholding the principles of democracy.
Since 15 September 2019 will be on a Sunday, let’s Celebrate The International Day of Democracy (The ID of D) @ the Office, Monday, September 16!
Let's CELEBRATE The ID of D together.
Because:
Democracy is about people!
Democracy is about inclusion and participation!
Democracy is or can be COOL & FUN!
>> Now just Replace ‘Democracy’ with ‘Majoritas’! 😉
Majoritas is about people! About you!
Majoritas is about inclusion and participation! Everybody is important & invited. If you are PART of the team – then PARTicipate!
Majoritas is or can be COOL & FUN! Majoritas is exactly as you make it!
Democracy is also exactly as we make it! And as Majoritans, we want to UPGRADE DEMOCRACY!
1. Let’s have fun in TEAMS:
We all are different. We all are special. We all are unique.
We can be serious professionals to work with and also cool friends to hang out with.
We have special talents, skills, priorities, views, perceptions, principles and preferences.
Let’s share them with the others and discover which ones are more or less the same or at least complimentary.
Our interaction and cooperation is producing a combined effect greater than the sum of our individual pssible results.
And our interactions and cooperation can also be Relaxed, Fun & Cool!
Monday
16th of September
@ 16:00
we’ll gather at the 1st floor of our Gheorghe Manu HQ!
What we plan to do:
We will probably be around 30-40 people waiting, ready and excited to Celebrate The ID of D @ Majoritas.
We will randomly split into 5 teams! (depending on the number of people)
Each Team will have 30 minutes to:
1. Select a team name
2. Select a song about Democracy and/or Participation/Involvement to represent the team
3. Write 5 words about what democracy means to them. (Is Democracy failing or not?)
4. Choose and Rank the 10 most important characteristics of a Good Politician.
After 30 minutes, every team will present its identity and decision to the other teams.
The Pressentation should be on a format more or lesss similar to this one:
“Our Team name is…. “
“Our Team Song about Democracy is…” (Play the Song as backgrund music)
“For us Democracy means… and we think that Democracy is or it isn’t failing because…”
“For us, the 10 most important characteristics of a good politician are (ranked by importance)…”
2. What are the most important characteristics of a… good politician?
Everybody in the office is invited to Choose/Sugest = VOTE and to RATE the important characteristics of „good politician”.
Rate online 15 characteristics of a good politician
+ (Check the second page of the survey form - you may find it interesting and/or fun.)
Everybody can propose at least 1 new feature or quality necessary for a ‚great politician’ – if it was not included in the initial survey
After the first centralization, you will have the chance to see the results and also to RANK these features and/or qualities good politicians.
Because we want to UPGRADE DEMOCRACY!
And we can start by selecting, rating and ranking the characteristics that make a GOOD POLITICIAN.
3. VOTING is the essence of Democracy as we know it
Let’s vote for a Honorary Council!
Let’s use this “ID of D Celebration” to organize a Fun DoV in the Majoritas HQ.
Let us choose 5 of our colleagues to become Members of the Majoritas “Honorary Council”.
Honor and responsibility:
The elected members in the “HC” will be the “people’s representatives” this 4th quarter.
The Elections will be repeated quarterly.
The title of “Elected Member in the Majoritas Honorary Council” can be accepted or not!
If an elected colleague does not want to accept the title, he or she will publicly announce it and will automaticaly free the place in the HC for another person who received the highest number of votes (the same or less than the number of votes he or she received).
The title, once accepted by the elected member, will bring honor, without very specific requirements or functions.
Since every “elected member” must have a responsibility – the Majoritas HC members can meet and discuss issues concerning the Majoritans, can represent them in relations with other official authorities and can propose ideas for improving the daily life in the Majoritas family and headquarters.
How we will vote:
We won’t have official candidates, therefore no official electoral campaign.
Our ballots will be special pieces of paper, with ONE COLLEAGUE NAME WRITTEN ON IT.
Every Majoritan has the right to cast ONE vote. And to write ONE NAME on the paper.
You can choose to vote or not to vote.
The Ballot Box will be Open from 09:00 till 16:00, in the Day of Vote: Monday, 16.09.
The Ballot Box will be seald and opened only after 16:00. The votes will be counted by Diana Nanciu & Cristian Francu. The ballot papers will be kept and may be recounted by other independend observers - if there are any concerns about the neutrality of the count.
The 5 elected HC Members will be those with the highest number of votes.
If there will be more than one person with the same number of votes competing for the same “chair” in the HC, we will select the elected one in a second round of votes. The second round of votes will be organised on the spot, if there will be more than 5 Elected Members of the HC that will accept the title.
*the Majoritans who can't arrive at the Ghe. Manu HQ, Monday, September 16, will have the chance to vote online - in the same timeframe: 09:00-16:00.
Why do we do this?
We will have the chance to discover what are our common perceptions, ideas and opinions.
We will have the opportunity to understand and learn from the different perceptions, ideas and opinions. It is our differences that makes us unique and stronger as a team!
We will CELEBRATE the International Day of Democracy in a fun and relaxed way.
We will socialize, get to know each other in different situations, and we will collaborate and communicate
The results:
Participating will strengthen the connections between us
Participating will be another step in our MTP: to Upgrade Democracy!
